What I loved about The Shift:
The Shift written by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer is one of those life changing books (if you read it at the right time).
This book 'shifted' me into a completely new space of meaning, living with authenticity, and oneness. Dr Dyer differentiates between living in a space of ambition or meaning. Ambition is cemented in a space of 'wanting more, buying more and happiness hinders on materialism and external validation. Whereas, living with meaning grounds the individual in living their true authentic self, connected with who they are in their own philosophy. When we genuinely live from a space of authenticity we create meaning in our lives that creates peace and harmony enabling us to ride the waves of life.
One of my biggest take homes was surrender. To surrender to life, the pain, the glory, the fear, good, bad, ugly and indifferent. I learnt how to stop fighting and let it be, I started to welcome and give gratitude to the pain. We all are dealt with some difficult cards and if we focus on them we experience more of it.
A golden gems "Don't ask what the world needs; don't ask what others think you should be doing with your life. Instead, ask yourself what makes you come alive - because, more than anything else, what the world truly needs are men and women who have come alive. What the world needs is the natural sincerity of people living their passion in a way that makes other people's lives better. This is what being authentic looks like."
