I approach health in a wholistic manner, and adopt the 'Bagua Map' that is utilised in Feng shui. A Bagua Map incorporates wealth and prosperity, fame and reputation, love and marriage, health and family, center (chi), children and creativity, knowledge and self-cultivation, career, and helpful people and travel. I create my vision board, write out my goals, and life's story with this structure. I invite you to design your own health philosophy as we explore each part.
Let’s discuss CHI as it relates to Optimal Health.
The chi is our heart centre, innerbeing, our truth. Here, you can take a moment, sit and reflect on your life and who you are. Explore your purpose and your 'why'; this is personal to you, everyone has their own purpose and passion in life that is unique to them. I remember when I first thought of this it was very overwhelming, I was 22 years old, divorced with 2 young babies healing from an abusive relationship. All I could think of at that time was providing a safe place for my little family and healing. However I gave it a go and took a big leap of faith and made myself very uncomfortable. I put everything aside and focussed on what makes my heart sing: my community, to help other women through domestic violence and have a environment to heal. To do this I had to go to uni, so I wrote 'I am so happy and grateful that I have now graduated from my psychology and anthropology degree and am a domestic violence counsellor'. 10 years on I did achieve that goal and worked for the Domestic Violence Service in Toowoomba for 5 years. I found that every year I would tweak and change my statement to keep in line with my truth.
Throughout the years of working with many individuals I came to realise that the uncomfortable feeling of change and limited self belief creates a barrier to accept who we truly are. I call these limiting self beliefs 'stories' or 'plug-in's' that hold us back from our achievements. For example, to succeed at university I had to overcome the 'story' that I was the non achiever, black sheep in the family and so on. This story was created in my family of origin. The belief was a self fulfilling prophecy that in order to shift I had to become uncomfortable, disciplined and understand my why. Currently now as you are reading this you are also on a journey with 'stories' that could derail you from achieving your optimal health. For example 'I am fat', 'I am addicted to sugar', 'I never succeed', 'When I feel alone I eat chocolate', 'My (insert family member) wont love me if I am skinny', the list is endless. However, when we truly connect with who we are, our own philosophy, our why and begin to remove our stories everything falls into place.
I invite you to write down your why and post it below, it could be as simple as - 'I am so happy and grateful that I am now full of energy, vibrancy and abundance. I am a passionate health advocate and role model to my family'.
Once you have this written out print it out, put it in a frame and place beside your bed. You have now created a intention that will flourish! - I look forward to writing the next post on wealth and prosperity!
