I was lucky enough to grab a space in the first group to do the 6 Week Changing Habits Course held at Food for Life Cafe with Elspeth as our fearless leader!
I absolutely loved it. So much so, I have now enrolled in Cyndi’s Changing Habits Online Course to deepen my knowledge over the next year or so.
I have done lots of compulsory nutrition study through other courses I have completed. No course has stood up to the huge amount of practical information we were given with Changing Habits. It was easy to follow and structured in such a fashion that the homework we got every week was easy and exciting to achieve.
Despite having learnt a lot of good information through other study, no course has got me to actually physically change my eating habits, until this one. Throughout the 6 weeks, I was able to make simple easy changes to my pantry and my cooking ingredients to transform the meals we eat in our home.
Although we have always eaten well (aside from my chocolate addiction - but lets not go there just yet) we now eat better. Although, most of the children have always been good eaters, they now are starting to understand how much better they feel by eating slightly different food. We have 5 children, so having food changes is never easy but we continue to try every week now because I have learnt for myself the importance of eating well.
The course is held in an easy, relaxed and totally supported environment. The conversations we had as a group were very helpful to us all. Elspeth was always happy to give us any further knowledge she had. Im sure we have all carried on friendships made in this group, i know I certainly have. It is lovely to be surrounding myself with more and more people who are on a similar journey to me with health and wellness. Building our tribe and community is a huge part of being successful in any health change. Changing Habits is a great course for doing just that.
Each week we have a cooking demo which take no longer than about 5 minutes. This gave me a sense of simplicity. Lets face it, none of us want to be spending hours a day in the kitchen, or even if we wanted to, we rarely have time. This has been another thing that has put me off making changes in the past. Quick easy changes to cooking and stocking our pantry have made things much easier to handle, even under time constraints.
Aside from the food aspect of the course, it covers things like decluttering the kitchen, which for me turned into my whole house and a change of work space. We discussed supplements and symptoms of weight gain or illness that we may have and what we can do to help ourselves further. We looked at our general health in areas such as sleep and movement of our bodies.
This 6 Week Course, along with some Kinesiology and support from my partner, has turned into a very positive health change for our family. I am going to do it all again on my own in the coming weeks to pick up some extra tips and go deeper than what I did the first time. In fact, I really feel like it is a little ritual to have a gander at a couple of times a year to refine my changes and remind myself of anything I may have forgotten as life sometimes takes over.
This one course was a game changer for me……..Tell your buddies and pals………and get on board! You won’t regret it!
